John Sankey's parents were married in LeGrand at Kate's home so I assume that John was born there as well. John had 2 sisters, Daisy Rhee (b. ca 1897), and Emily Elizabeth (b. 1902), he also had a bother, Chestley Elias Jr. (b. 1904). John married Mary Lee Rhodes around 1920 and had a child, Wily Ralph in December of 1921. Mary came down with polio after Ralph was born and was unable to speak or to walk. John Sankey divorced Mary Lee when Ralph was still very young.

According to John Sankey's death certificate he served in the armed forces from June 24, 1942 to March 18, 1943.

John worked as a bus driver for the city of Montgomery for many years.

On the 23rd of November, 1958 John was admitted into the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montgomery. He was dying of cancer, a condition diagnosed a couple years earlier. He stayed in the hospital for 9 days and died at 11:55am, December 2nd, 1958. He was survived by his 3rd? wife Doris Shealey Reynolds. His last residence was 913 Grace St. in Montgomery. He lies at Memorial Cemetery.
